Ondo state Commissioner for Youth Development and Sports, Hon. Dayo Awude has claimed Sunshine Stars FC of Akure is on the right path after a 3-0 victory over El-Kanemi Warriors FC of Maiduguri at the Akure Township Stadium on Sunday.
The Akure-based team dominated the game, Afolabi Okiki put the team at the lead in the 15th minute from the penalty kick spot.
Isiaka Oladuntoye extended their lead in the 49th minute, before Dayo Ojo took the game beyond the Maiduguri-based visitors in the 90th minute from the penalty kick spot.
The Sunshine Stars FC has been undefeated in the last six matches, both home and away this season.
Awude expressed his delight with the performance of the team, he said “this is our dream, we need to believe. It is a good display from the team; well-determined and focused. I feel very proud.
“Our supporters were fantastic and they feel proud of us. I think it is an exciting moment for the club.
“The team is gaining more confidence and it’s good for us and I hope it continues to put the team in a better position. We are on the right path. What we only need is to improve and results will come our way,” he added.
Also, the team’s technical adviser, Solomon Ogbeide, said he is pleased with the performance of his team.
Meanwhile, the Head Coach of El-Kanemi FC, Ladan Bosso told newsmen after the Match Day 12 fixture that the better team won.
Ogbeide added that the team will continue to fight until they achieve their aim.
Sunshine Stars now have 14 points from 10 matches.
